USDA list: 21 of 28 O.C. school districts got recalled beef

The U.S. Department of Agriculture released a list today of all school districts nationwide that received beef included in last month's recall of 143 million pounds from a California slaughterhouse. The 226-page document listed "school food authorities" - the rough equivalent of school districts - that received the meat. The list includes 21 of Orange County's 28 school districts.

Protests planned to fight education cuts

Parents and community leaders are planning several rallies and other events across South County in the coming weeks to protest proposed cuts to K-12 public education - cuts that already have generated 601 teacher layoff notices and contract cancellations in the Capistrano Unified and Saddleback Valley Unified school districts.
