Lodi teachers to get 1% pay raise

Teachers in the Lodi Unified School District will receive a 1 percent pay raise in the 2008-09 school year. The raise comes in a tough budget year, when school districts are being asked to slash budgets and were not provided a cost-of-living adjustment increase from the state.

Students, staff will bid school goodbye

After nearly 70 years, Spring Valley Elementary School will close June 20. La Mesa-Spring Valley School District officials are closing the school after the last day of the school year because enrollment has dropped and some of the buildings need expensive repairs.

At schools, 'T' is for termites

The Clovis Unified school board Wednesday unanimously voted to make an exception for the sisters and six other special education students who did not pass the high school exit exam but otherwise were on track to graduate. The students will receive letters of recommendation, not diplomas.
