King City High district in crisis

Declining enrollment and a huge bill for teacher back pay have caused a budget crisis so severe it may force the state to take over King City's high school district. Facing a $3.4 million deficit in its 2008-09 budget, the King City Joint Union High School District may seek an emergency loan from the state Department of Education, according to Rory Livingston, the district's assistant superintendent for business.

VISTA: School officials get grim budget news

Vista Unified School District trustees got grim budget news and honored one of their departing colleagues Thursday at a meeting that had its ups and downs.
