Budget prospects improve as Lucia Mar confronts its deficit

The budget outlook for Lucia Mar Unified School District may not be as grim as initially predicted. Flexibility in fund usage, program cuts and proposed fee increases have helped the district come up with $2 million to offset its anticipated $9.4 million budget deficit for the 2009-10 school year.
