What is the difference between a student body account in elementary schools versus secondary schools?

Question: Are there different requirements or procedures for a student body account in elementary schools versus a student activity account used in a junior high or high school? Would both be governed by the Ed Code requirements?  I have information for the student body account, but if these two accounts are different, where can I find information for the student activity procedures?

Response:  As far as the differences between student body organizations at different grade levels, there are both organized and unorganized student body organizations.  Student organizations in middle and high schools are called organized student body organizations because the students are organizing their activities around student clubs and an elected student council.  The students are primarily responsible for their organizations, with an advisor assisting.  The students are actually making the decisions about what fund-raisers will occur and how the money will be used.

Student body organizations in elementary schools are called unorganized because there is usually not a student council or different student clubs.  Although elementary students do raise funds, they are not as involved in what events will occur and how the money will be used. The school principal or another school employee is usually the one overseeing the activities of these organizations once the governing board of the district delegates the authority to them.
