Question: Do you know of any programs that provide down payment funds to teachers to help them to purchase a home?

Reponse: The California Housing Finance Agency website at www.calhfa.ca.gov contains a program that assists teachers in purchasing a home in the community in which they teach if the school is considered a high priority school. It is an extra credit teachers' program as part of Proposition 46 (passed in 2002) that provides up to 100% financing to eligible credentialed employees so that they can purchase a primary residence in California. It would be advisable that applicants work with a mortgage company that is familiar with the program. We're not sure if the program provides down payment funds, but it may help reduce a down payment requirement or structure home mortgage payments. The information on the website will explain the answers to those types of specific questions.
