Question
Can District Office personnel be signers on ASB accounts?Response: It is permissible for a backup signer, which could include a district office employee, to be authorized to sign checks from the ASB checking account. The main reason for this is that if the principal, ASB advisor and/or student is not available to sign a check due to them all being away from the district for a period of time (i.e. summer), someone needs to be able to sign checks. Since checks should not ever be signed in advance, the only logical solution is to have a district office backup. We would suggest that the backup is an administrative or supervisory position.
